ApocalyptiGirl: An Aria For the End of Times by Andrew MacLean

A young woman stuck on an apocalyptic Earth… Two savage tribes fight for domination  and resources: The Blue Stripes against the Grey Beards. Aria was told it would only take three months to find the tremendous power source, but 6 years later she is still searching. Her tracker picks up a signal but it is weak and her underground hideout is under attack. With only her sidekick cat as company, Aria tries to find her objective and rebuild her oversize bot.

With artwork that is eye-catching and fighting that is bloody and gory, I really enjoyed my short time in ApocalyptiGirl. The opera references and the quick interspersed backstory of the end of times add the needed depth in this one. I like Aria’s monologues and her little friendship with her cat. A pet she needs to make her life on Earth a little bearable…

Pick this one up for great art and a fast story with some spacey commentary on nature’s rule over the planet.
