Coincidences are piling up in Grace’s life… She moves to Hong Kong with her mom and stepfather after the death of her father. An old woman gives her a mysterious egg at the local market. Egg begets dragon and dragon brings bad guys. Grace’s introduction to the new city, a new school, and new friends is turned on its head. Questions abound: Who really is Grace and what connection does she have to do with this dragon and all of Chinese mythology?
Told in bright, bold colors and a large helping of humor, City of Dragons is the first book in what looks to be a great series. I could feel the intensity rising as the pages change form… from simple 6-panel pages to full-page expansive drawings. There’s action and friendship and double crosses… Not a simple plot but one that is infused with science, dragons, and mystery.
I feel strongly that City of Dragons gives readers of all ages the complete package: Brilliant artwork, Taught plot lines, and Characters that I want to follow in subsequent books… Great book, period!
