Here’s my eclectic list of Best Books for 2019. All of these books were published this year and cover a smattering of different genres: SciFi, Fantasy, Drama, Dystopian, Tie-In, YA, Historical Fiction.
I had two goals in putting this list together: 1) Look over my year in reading and find the best books that I read. 2) I also wanted to create a list that has books on it that everyone might be able to enjoy.

A Boy and His Dog at the End of the World is one of the best books I will read this year. It’s chock-full of intriguing post-world speculation, contains one of the best characters in recent memory, and has a survival-adventure plot that kept me flipping through the pages.
A Boy and His Dog at the End of the World by C. A. Fletcher
Overall, this was a fantastic weekend read. Fast and full of Bat-Fun!
Highly Recommended for fans of space operas. This one is very good and deserves great praise. I grabbed ahold of this book and for two days, I didn’t let go.
Velocity Weapon by Megan E. O’Keefe
If you are looking for a series of books to hold you in your seat and satisfy that regional mystery itch, the Darren Matthews books are awesome. I cannot recommend Heaven, My Home enough.
Heaven, My Home by Attica Locke
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves the fantasy YA genre. It’s a tightly written action-fantasy with so much to offer.
Tristan Strong Punches a Hole in the Sky Book by Kwame Mbalia
Overall, a very good book that fills the arc between the two films. Pick it up to get ready for The Rise of Skywalker!
Resistance Reborn by Rebecca Roanhorse
At the end of the book I felt beat up, trampled, yet I knew that I’d be back in The Lots soon in Book 3.
‘LIVE IN THE SADDLE. DIE ON THE HOG.’
The True Bastards by Jonathan French
Old fans and new ones (me) will be ready for Book 2 to come out!
A Little Hatred by Joe Abercrombie
Told in the words of band members, record execs, rock critics, and more, the story is a riveting portrayal of the life of the 70s rock band. Reid has a real knack for knowing how to break up the interviews, and to cut the stories with various points of view to create great tension and drama. Reminiscent of the rise of Fleetwood Mac and the tumultuous relationship between Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, Daisy Jones and The Six is a book that I predict will do very, very well. It’s been endorsed by Reece Witherspoon and will be turned into an Amazon Original show, and I think all the hype is totally deserved.
Daisy Jones and The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reed
Impeccably researched and moving, the second half of Brennert’s family odyssey, Daughter of Moloka’i, is a book that can be enjoyed on many levels. It’s a vivid piece of American history and a stunning portrait of familial strength.
Daughter of Moloka’i by Alan Brennert
Have you read any of these books? How did you like them?
Velocity Weapon was so great! I had it on my favorites list too.😊

Love the variety, and especially liked seeing Court of Owls on here. Both that one and Resistance Reborn makes me think I should make a top list of tie-ins I read this year, since it’s such an overlooked category. Thanks for the idea!
