A Quick TBR

A Quick TBR. Just because. In order, here’s a list of the books I’ll be reading over the next couple weeks.

small country

Small Country by Gaël Faye.

This is my current read. This is a newly translated book from France. The story of boy growing up in central Africa in the mid 90s. His mother is a black Rwandan and his father is a white Frenchman who relocated to Burundi to manage construction sites. At under two hundred pages, it’s a short novel, but it packs a good punch. Great writing so far, with vivid descriptions of the country and the people.

Shelter

Shelter by Dave Hutchinson

I got this on the recommendation of another blogger. I’m excited to start this post-apocalypse novel set in England. I anticipate a power struggle for the remaining resources left after some sort of cataclysmic event. I’m happy I got this one because I’d like to read more in this genre.

The Bonanza King by Gregory Crouch

This is the story of how John Mackay was able to outmanuever all his competitors to own Nevada’s Comstock Lode. I’m always ready to dive into a good nonfiction piece; this one looks good.

Rip the angels

Rip the Angels From Heaven by David Krugler

Soviet spies and American agents in a battle for intelligence, information about the next weapon that will gain their country the winning edge.  I’ve stayed away from WW2 era books for awhile. I just got burned out after having read so many in the last 10-15 years. I’m ready to try another one though, and I’ve seen some buzz about this one.
